Introduction
Computer Association of Nepal, Lumbini (CAN, Lumbini) was
established in
2002 as an autonomous, non political, non partisan, non-
partisan, non- profitable
and service oriented organization. Way back in 2002 it was
formed with the
involvement of professional, specialist, manufacturers,
institutions and the related
organization of computer and information technology (ICT) with
in zone and was duly
registered with Nepal Government, District Administration office,
Rupandehi.
After 8 years, computer Association of Nepal of Nepal Lumbini
has matured
from strengths to strengths where in today it represents the
unanimous voice of the
IT sector in Lumbini with such a varied membership, which
includes from vendors to
manufacturers. The association truly represents the multi faceted
outlook of the
Lumbini Zone.
The IT sector of Lumbini, has grown tremendously in past few
years and the future
looks a promising one. Over the years, the IT sector has grown
steadily. The younger
generation significant interest among the general masses about
IT. The IT user base
of the country is growing by the days and the sector itself is
rightly poised for a jump
start.
Since its inceptions, CAN Lumbini have been active in its set
objectives to
exploit ICT as an engine of growth for Lumbini. The strategic
effort played by CAN,
Lumbini for IT industry as a private sector’s apex body is well
acknowledged and
appreciated in Lumbini Zone.

It has been CAN Lumbini’s endeavor to strengthen the ICT sector
of Lumbini
and to make the industry’s presence felt at the national arena at
a grater level than
ever before. To do so CAN, Lumbini has been undertaking its own
initiatives including
policy lobbying, organizing awareness programs, workshops,
seminars and training.
Its annual event “The CAN INFOTECH”, which is the sale showcase
of the ICT in
Lumbini, has over the years become the country’s most important
and well attended
event. A one day regional conference is also organized to
supplement the event.

OBJECTIVES
It main objective is to increase awareness about ICT in Lumbini
and also
to support growth of Zone's ICT industry, the objectives of CAN
Lumbini as
mentioned in its constitution are as follows:
1. To assist in the utilization, enhancement and promotion of
computer and
information communication technology with in the zone and
help to
develop strategies to meet the necessary requirements for the
development of literacy and skills regarding computer science
2. To provide and protect the necessary rights and privileges,
benefits to
individuals, institutions, companies and organization affiliated
to the
activities of CAN, Lumbini.
3. To provide support and facilities to all general, corporate
and honorary
members of CAN, Lumbini
